Korea is one of the countries where the number of people single-person households is increasing rapidly. Considering the global trend and the aging trend in Korea, the number of single-person households will increase further in the future. Single-person households are socially isolated due to weak social connections, and their low sense of security threatens their mental and physical health. They also face problems such as low income, unstable employment, and housing insecurity. However, policies that take them into account are insufficient. Recently, the Personal Information Protection Act was amended to change the information consent process and provide four conditions that must be met when obtaining consent. In the case of single-person households, it is difficult to receive assistance from others, and they are generally elderly and low-income, so there is a risk that they may be vulnerable to personal information protection. Considering that the use of personal information will expand in the future, a legal basis for protecting the privacy of single-person households should be established. There are services that utilize artificial intelligence to talk to single-person households over the phone and check for any peculiarities. In addition, AI pets are being developed and marketed, and AI robots are expected to appear in the future. In Korea, the number of single-person households is expected to increase rapidly, especially the number of elderly single-person households, so ethical standards for artificial intelligence should be established to reflect this situation. The limitation of this study is that no empirical research has been conducted. There is still no comprehensive research on single-person households, privacy, and AI ethical standards. Future research should include expert interviews, official statistical analysis, and surveys.
